It may sound cliché, but it’s amazing what we can accomplish when the whole world works together. That’s the basic concept behind Zero Emissions Day—a time to reflect on the choices we can all make to reduce emissions and find more sustainable solutions. For one day, on September 21, the goal is to remove our reliance on fossil fuels while raising awareness for climate-friendly choices. This year, we invite you to discover the efforts we put forth each and every day as well as the ways our energy solutions can help set you on a path to net-zero emissions by 2050.
While Zero Emissions Day is a great way to raise awareness in the short term, there are critical long term ambitions as well—governments around the globe are taking pledges to begin decarbonizing the planet over the next three decades.
One major push is the Paris Climate Agreement, an international treaty that aims to limit global warming to less than two degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. This will be accomplished by curbing and cutting back greenhouse gas emissions to achieve a climate neutral world by 2050, through cleaner and more efficient generation methods.
As part of our own low-carbon transition plan, we have committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% between 2017 and 2030. We have also made a commitment to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 28% from 2019 to 2030. So what does this mean?
Additionally, our transition plan includes the use of renewable energy wherever possible and the potential to switch from internal combustion engines to electric vehicle for our fleet of trucks.
Our energy saving solutions and onsite energy projects can also make a difference for our clients year round. They include but are not limited to solar, combined heat and power (CHP), electric vehicle charging, upgrades for HVAC, refrigeration and LED lighting. With this array of services, we can ensure we’re providing you with a low-emissions solution tailored directly to your facility. So far, the implementation of these projects has:
On Zero Emissions Day, take the time to consider the energy generation methods in your facility—could they be more efficient? Not only can our array of solutions help set you on the path toward net-zero emissions, but they can also help lower your energy bills. If you’re interested in learning more, please contact us today.
